Incepted as the “Promotional Product Design” (PPD) Award in 2010, the PPD will be entering its 10th edition in tandem with the 12th Malaysia Gifts Fair.

The first three editions were open to university and college students (i.e. amateur designers) only. In order to encourage and tap into a broader talent-base, however, the Organizing Committee decided to add another category for professional Malaysian designers, in 2013.

Both categories were combined into one in 2014, which is open to all professional Malaysian designers and creatives, in the hope that this will spur participants to compete at the highest level.

Ultimately, the idea behind the PPD was to provide talented individuals with the opportunity to have their designs recognized, rewarded and even commercialized in collaboration with established local entrepreneurs.

With the ever evolving education in design and innovation, younger talents are produced. Therefore, this year in 2020, PPD has decided to once again open to learning institutions to provide a platform for them to showcase their talents.
